Some of the population would have no idea what I’m referring to. It was the Yellow Pages tagline for decades. Although advertising isn’t intellectual in itself, it can be an incredible reminder of how society did operate. The idea was that your fingers could flip through the massive compilation of city businesses and find the answer you needed in your life.
Not only does the concept of a massive BOOK seem cumbersome, but surely inaccurate. Every year the employees of Yellow Pages had to update and redistribute another volume. Now, it’s a search for information on-line, and ultimately, a website.
Another massive hurdle that might not be as obvious. Not only do we not need to have a massive book because we have a digital solution, we also don’t need our fingers. Siri, Alexa, the really nice GPS audio, is all incredible AI making the search physical interaction with materials obsolete.
