Today, Covid positive. I should have been able to take the test yesterday. If I had, less people would have been exposed. I take responsibility for this. I slept through my COVID time at 2:20 pm. I had slept from 1pm the night before straight through.
Yet...another person should accept responsibility too: One employee or pharmacist at CVS (Minute Clinic on 2429 Martin Luther King Jr Dr.). If she had let me take my scheduled COVID test 15 minutes late. Like I said, I had slept through my appointment time. CVS called and when I said I could be there in 10 minutes, the woman said, I had to reschedule. I couldn’t believe this person was acting like she was working at the DMV. This is COVID. I’m sick. The nation wants sick people to know if they have COVID so they can quarantine. She couldn’t work me in between. How many other people had she said the same to. Usually, I don’t plead, but this time I did. I pleaded, I even made myself out to be on death’s door, “please, I don’t have it in me to reschedule.” She said, “I’m sorry. Have a nice day” and hung up.
The truth was I was feeling better than I had been in three days. I wanted to go out to eat, go walking with a friend, go shopping. After speaking with another friend, who mentioned her brother had the exact same symptoms, I didn’t do 95% of what I wanted. She spared people COVID surely. I did go hug my 17 year old which I never would have done. I rescheduled and continued to isolate myself. It felt silly...I mean, I had had a negative COVID test to board and international flight 24 hours before I felt my first symptom.
Ever once in a while, every body, every where just needs to be better. Do better. If you aren’t Mother Teresa, then you got room to improve. Don’t be a robot. Think with compassion. The world just doesn’t work if we don’t.
